Sing, Sing, Sing

This week’s photos are brought to you by the letter “U”, for “Unison”.
(Weekly Photo – Week #21, May 21, 2014)

Sorry folks … this post is a few days late in getting out there. Just too much going on, but all fun and pleasure.

So, what is Unison? Unison is a quadrennial Canadian choral festival for LGBTQ people and their allies. This year the festival was held in Ottawa, Ontario, the capital of Canada. This marks the fifth edition with previous festivals held in Edmonton, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg. For this festival, the Show Tune Showdown 2014 was held as a special event and it consisted of three musical theatre groups and three celebrity judges. This is the eighth edition of the Show Tune Showdown and it has grown to become the largest LGBTQ arts event produced locally in Ottawa, and in 2014 will be produced by Unison.

I was asked about a year ago if I would consider taking photos at some of the events and here is a sample of what I captured. This was my first opportunity to photograph a live entertainment event and what a neat learning curve! And it is amazing what you can do with digital photography when you have a fast prime lens and you push the camera ISO.

  1. hey Catherine! Are you going to the Garden Sculpture show tomorrow? Lissy’s totem pole is absolutely amazing!!! And Dody’s fish fountain mosaic too..wow! There are quite the artists! Warmly, Dara

    • Hello Dara. Unfortunately, no. I have a conflict. It is the same date that I am having a wine and cheese party to celebrate my successful of the 4-year photography program at Algonquin College. I haven’t seen Dody’s fish fountain yet I have been fortunate to see Lis’ totem pole as it was being created. Neat, creative people. All the best … Catherine
